The Model 225 is often used for motor speed control. To provide additional protection against vibration and radial shaft run-out, a unique flexible mounting arm was designed. It features easy installation onto any existing Model 225, in either an upward or downward orientation accomodating a range of bolt circles. The Flex Arm can mount on either side of the encoder, and due to its slotted features, the gap between motor and encoder can be adjusted from 0.30"to 0.40". Available as a separate accessory kit (Order part # 140106-01), or with your next Model 225 purchase, this new Flex Arm is simple to install, and will solve many motor to encoder problems.

Mounting Solution for Small Diameter Motors

Smaller stepper and servo motors, such as a NEMA Size 17 Stepper, can now be used with the full featured 1.5" diameter (38mm) Model 15 encoder.

Flex mounting systems for encoders have been pioneered by EPC for many years, so developing a new flex mount solution for smaller motors is only natural. When the bolt pattern of a motor is smaller in diameter than the encoder, a unique approach is needed. Solving this problem are two slotted flex mount options available with either the Model 15T or Model 15H. Two different bolt pattern options, 29 mm and 32.5 mm, cover the most common bolt patterns used on smaller stepper and servo motors.

The mounting procedure starts with loosely pre-installing the mounting screws into the motor. The flex mount uses a key hole style opening, which is placed over the screw heads, then rotated slightly. The screws are tightened using a low profile hex wrench. Mountings kits, available in both Metric (M 2.5) and English (4-40), include one low profile hex wrench and enough screws to install five encoders.

These flex mounts are available with all bore sizes and are produced using only the finest materials. The slots in the flex mount provide a rotational adjustment for easy commutation alignment. These flex mount features, combined with the protective cover used on all Model 15 encoders, provide the perfect solution for your small motor application.
