EPC Encoders Help Keep Things in Line

The Company
Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX) is a $15.7 billion technology and services enterprise that helps businesses deploy smart document management strategies and find better ways to work. Its intent is to constantly lead with innovative technologies, products and solutions that customers can depend upon to improve business results.

The Problem
The DocuColor iGen3 is aimed at the high-end digital printing market and is intended to compete with traditional offset printing. It is also designed to meet all of a company’s needs for high volume, short-run, full-color, on-demand, personalized printing. The printing system uses what it calls SmartPress Imaging, a patented third-generation imaging technology with closed loop controls, to produce up to 6,000 impressions (A4 letter) per hour with quality that is unsurpassed in digital printing.

The DocuColor iGen3 system offers true production capabilities, including a 10,000 sheet feeding capacity from up to four bins, and the ability to print a wide array of stocks and sheet sizes at rated speeds. The ability to mix up to four stocks in a single run and deliver collated offset stacks is intended to bring a new level of productivity to a print shop. Moreover, the system monitors every print job and dynamically adjusts critical system parameters, from feeding to stacking to color consistency. As you can imagine, moving 10,000 sheets of mixed stock paper at feed rates of up to 6,000 sheets per hour calls for precise speed and positioning feedback information, and that’s where EPC comes in.

The Solution
After extensive testing, the manufacturer selected the workhorse Model 755A as the standard encoder for this truly state of the art printing system. If accuracy and reliability are important to you, the 755A is the encoder of choice.
